Stevan Jovanovich, Ph.D.

Dr. Stevan Jovanovich co-founded IntegenX (then named Microchip Biotechnologies) in 2003 to better optimize sample preparation for the life sciences. At IntegenX he has been the Principal Investigator on over $10M of grants and contracts focused on DNA sequencing, biodefense, and forensics. He leads a growing team of talented professionals dedicated to commercializing the technologies.

Dr. Jovanovich is an internationally recognized expert in microfluidics and an experienced global commercial leader. Prior to co-founding IntegenX, Dr. Jovanovich was Vice President of Global Research at Amersham Biosciences (now part of GE Healthcare) where he led a team of 120 scientists and engineers and drove multiple business projects across six international sites. Previous positions include Science Director at Amersham Biosciences, Manager of Advanced Research at Molecular Dynamics, Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Director of Microbiology at AbTox, and founder of Molecular Solutions.

Dr. Jovanovich has proven expertise in microbiology, molecular genetics, microbial physiology, object-oriented programming, robotics, genomics, systems biology, and instrument and systems development. He has authored over 20 scientific publications and is an inventor on more than 20 US patents. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Life Sciences from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of California at Davis. Currently, he serves as a member of the board of directors for IntegenX.

Dennis Harris, Ph.D.

Dennis Harris, Ph.D.

Dr. Dennis Harris is a co-founder of IntegenX and is an experienced executive who has spent the majority of his career developing and implementing business strategies for life science companies to maximize their research and development efforts and to enhance their ability to bring innovation to customers. In his various roles, he has initiated and led successful portfolio acquisitions and negotiated technology collaborations. Prior to IntegenX, he served as Chief Scientific Officer at Millipore since 2006. He was Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Serologicals Corporation from 2004 to 2006 and Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Vitra Bioscience from 2002 to 2003. He served as Senior Vice President at Aclara Biosciences, Inc., a developer of microfluidics and gene and protein analysis technologies. Prior to Aclara, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Amersham Pharmacia Biotech (now part of GE Healthcare) including Vice President of Research and Development. Dr. Harris has extensive background in DNA sequencing and laboratory automation systems.

Dr. Harris currently serves on the board of directors for IntegenX, and also serves on the board of directors for Biolog, Inc..

Dr. Harris earned his B.SC. Hons. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. from the University of Sussex, England. He has authored 17 papers.

Howard D. Goldstein
Executive Vice President, Commercial Affairs

Howard D. Goldstein

Mr. Goldstein brings to IntegenX more than 30 years experience in creating and managing product commercialization organizations in life science companies. He has been responsible for building and leading marketing, engineering, and sales teams that have created more than 10 key product categories in the research marketplace.

Before joining IntegenX in 2009, he served as CEO and Chief Commercial Officer for Arcxis Biotechnologies as well as Managing Partner of Practical Marketing & Sales, a marketing and sales consultancy. Prior to Arcxis, he held senior level positions directing marketing, sales and customer service for Amnis Corporation, Molecular Devices, Molecular Dynamics, and Applied Biosystems. Mr. Goldstein was founder, president and CEO of the eBioinformatics unit of Entigen Corporation, senior vice president at Incyte Genomics and Synteni Corporation, which was acquired by Incyte. He began his career at LKB Instruments.

Mr. Goldstein received his B.S. in Biology from Bucknell University, his M.B.A. in Organizational Development from Temple University, and his M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Dayton.

Ezra Van Gelder
Executive Vice President, Research & Development

Ezra Van Gelder

Mr. Van Gelder joined IntegenX in 2008, and has extensive leadership experience in research and development from senior positions held in the life science, medical device, and semiconductor equipment industries. Prior to IntegenX, he led instrument and reagent development for DNA and RNA sample preparation at Arcxis Biosciences. At Molecular Dynamics, Amersham and GE Healthcare, Mr. Van Gelder held the position of Vice President for Development for the West Coast and led development for DNA sequencing and cell analysis. His previous experience in the semiconductor industry includes various leadership roles at KLA Instruments and KLA-Tencor, where he directed development of automated optical wafer inspection equipment.

Mr. Van Gelder holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University.

Debara Frost
Vice President, Operations

Debara Frost

Ms. Frost joined IntegenX in May 2010 to develop the company’s operational organization and infrastructure. Prior to IntegenX, Ms. Frost earned positions of increasing operational responsibility over the course of 20 years of service at Applied Biosystems, now part of Life Technologies. As Vice President of Global Nucleotide Operations and as Vice President of Customer Services and Distribution at Applied Biosystems, Ms. Frost built and led global supply chain, product and process development, manufacturing, quality assurance, distribution, and customer service organizations for life science and biotech laboratory products. She has also consulted extensively to the life science, nanotechnology, healthcare, and viniculture industries, providing her clients with operational assessments and strategies for infrastructure development and scalability.

Ms. Frost studied Business Administration at San Francisco State University.
