Microbead Capture and Cleanup

Microbead Capture
The use of coated paramagnetic beads to capture specific biological materials from a variety of matrices is well-established, as these beads enable extremely sensitive detection and isolation. Paramagnetic microbead capture technology provides a bridge between full scale samples and micro- and nanoscale fluidic sample processing. These microbeads bind and capture target biomolecules from large dilute volumes and concentrate them into microliter or even nanoliter bead volumes. Bead capture provides the specificity, purification and volume reduction essential for introducing samples into microfluidic devices.

Microbead Cleanup
IntegenX uses paramagnetic beads in microfluidic chips to clean reaction products, such as samples prepared for DNA sequencing on the Apollo 100XL™ System. After template and pre-mix solutions are pumped into reaction chambers and the reaction mixture undergoes the appropriate number of thermocycles, magnetic beads are added to the reaction products. The beads capture the reaction products, are pumped into MOVe™ microfluidic chips and are then captured by magnets within a MOVe valve chamber. While immobilized in the magnetic field, the beads are rinsed with wash solutions to remove unincorporated dye that could interfere with cycle sequencing reactions for sequence detection in commercial DNA sequencing systems.
